St. Pio of Pietrelcina Catholic Elementary School – New Construction
St. Pio of Pietrelcina Elementary School is located at 4765 Huron Heights Drive, Mississauga, Ontario in a “small pocket” subdivision of a fully developed part of Mississauga. This project houses 706 students and is situated east of Hurontario St. and south of Eglinton Ave. The site has a considerable grade change towards the back of the property of approximately 7 metres (23 ft.). Our professional team developed a step-down site specific custom design tailored for these specific gradient conditions.
Our design solution defined a one-storey street/neighbourhood presence and a two-storey structure at the back while also accommodating very specific (inflexible/limited) site access. Due to the fact that the project was constructed in a fully developed and occupied subdivision, our team encountered site drainage capacity issues which presented challenging conditions for our finished grading design as well as service connections.
The project was designed as a “Last Piece of the Puzzle” for the community and was completed within the projected timelines, on budget and within the benchmarks of MOE Accommodation Grant Plan.
